As i announced in the last post, that i am going to share about the science topics also. Today is the starting day of Hidden Science. Our topic is about SpinLaunch.
SpinLaunch is a aerospace company founded by Jonathan Yaney in in Sunnyvale, California. This company is working on rocket launch concept without using the rocket fuel. As we know Liquid Hydrogen is the most costly fuel. Due it's good natural properties. know here why hydrogen fuel is costly. To reduce the costs for rocket launch, SpinLaunch proposed the concept of " throwing rockets into the space ".
They had conducted the tests on 22nd Oct,2021 and released the results on 27th Sept,2022. By looking at the results, they had successfully launched a rocket into the space.
How it works ?
Suborbital Accelerator is a launcher that throws rockets into space by using the kinetic energy. Look at the picture shown. This capsule had a arm that can hold the rocket. And this arm will start rotating to reach the required speed. This can launch up to 200kg payloads into the space. After reached the required speed the arm will leave the rocket through the outlet pipe. Therefore the rocket will enter into the upper most layer of earth surface. Then the inner thrusters will take the lead of rocket till the orbit reach.

What is the Hidden Science Used in this ?
The Science used in this launcher is Centrifugal Force. Centrifugal force is the apparent outward force on a mass when it is rotated. The same law is applied in this launcher.
For example, you would played in the childhood ball with a thread. When we rotate it while holding the rope, the rotational force will observed by the ball, where the ball tries to escape from us ( we here act as a center ) in a tangential path. This is the same what used in this Launcher.
You can even observed this daily life examples of, Fair Ride, Merry Go Round, and in some movies also.
