Hey Guys, How are you doing? Today i bring about the engineering topic. That is about Gears. We already discussed about the gear relations some of them are Planetary Gear Relation, Differential.
As for the new design, i learnt about the new gear relation which is known as Worm Gear Relation. Worm gear is mostly used for producing the high torque. Like applications of heavy vehicles like cranes etc,.
What is Worm Gear ?
Worm gears are power-transmission components primarily used as high-ratio reductions to change the direction of shaft rotation and to decrease speed and increase torque between non-parallel rotating shafts. They are used on shafts with non-intersecting, perpendicular axes.
Worm gear have worm wheel for transmission. Even it is used in the steering mechanism for better turnings.
The gear ratio of the worm gear is the ratio to the number of teeth of gear to the number of worm threads or simply no of teeth of gear / 1.
