However, recent developments and the announcement of "Avengers: Doomsday" starring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom have left fans wondering: how exactly will Kang's storyline conclude?
The most plausible narrative route is that the MCU will use the chaotic nature of the multiverse to neatly tie up Kang's loose ends. With the Council of Kangs introduced at the end of "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," the stage was set for a multiversal war. It is highly likely that "Avengers: Doomsday" will open with or quickly establish a catastrophic event—perhaps triggered by the Kangs themselves—that ultimately leads to their mutual destruction. This multiversal collapse could serve as the perfect catalyst for Doctor Doom to step in, harnessing the chaos to establish himself as the supreme ruler of a consolidated timeline or Battleworld, effectively wiping the Kang threat from existence.
Another compelling theory involves the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and the events of the "Loki" series. With Loki now acting as the guardian of the multiverse, the TVA has been actively hunting down Kang variants to prevent another multiversal war. The MCU could explain that the TVA's efforts were successful in neutralizing the Kang threat off-screen, or in a brief opening sequence in "Doomsday."
This would allow the narrative to swiftly pivot to Doctor Doom. Whatever the mechanism, Marvel faces the delicate task of providing a satisfying narrative conclusion to a villain they spent years building up, while simultaneously shifting the spotlight to one of the most iconic and highly anticipated villains in comic book history.
